On Thursday, July 2, 2026, the kickoff event for the 76th "Movement to Brighten Society" Emphasis Month was held at Shibuya Yoshimoto Manzai Theater. The "Movement to Brighten Society" is a nationwide initiative to foster public understanding of "rehabilitation protection," which supports individuals striving to recover from crime and delinquency, and to build a brighter community where neither new victims nor offenders are created. The Ministry of Justice and Yoshimoto Kogyo have been collaborating on various projects since 2016. This year's "Movement to Brighten Society" will be conducted nationwide under the unified theme of "Let's broadly raise awareness of rehabilitation volunteers, including protective supervisors." Minister of Justice Hiroshi Hiraguchi, Director-General of the Ministry of Justice's Rehabilitation Bureau Takashi Yoshikawa, along with GORI (Garage Sale), Fujisaki Market, Two-Tribe, and Evers, took the stage to deepen understanding of rehabilitation protection, joined by members of the Edogawa Ward Association of Protective Supervisors. Facing active protective supervisors, GORI commented, "I feel like your gentleness plays a role like a mental massage for rehabilitation." Collaboration projects were also announced, including the YouTube video "Why Are Protective Supervisors Necessary?" where comedians closely follow protective supervisors, and the short video "This Person's Words Changed Me!" Finally, Minister of Justice Hiraguchi declared the start of the emphasis month and expressed his determination to broaden the movement's reach. Yoshimoto Kogyo will continue to cooperate with the Ministry of Justice to promote understanding of the "Movement to Brighten Society."
