DEAN & DELUCA, operated by Welcome Co., Ltd., has announced that New York craft bagel brand Apollo Bagels will hold its first pop-up in Japan for three days only, from May 22 to May 24, 2026, at DEAN & DELUCA Cafe Marunouchi. Founded in New York in 2020, Apollo Bagels opened its first downtown store in 2023 and quickly gained attention for the long lines forming before opening. The brand now operates seven locations across New York City. Building on traditional bagel-making methods while continually redefining the format, Apollo Bagels has been named one of New York’s best bagel shops by The New York Times and is highly regarded by Michelin-starred chefs and culinary professionals in both New York and Tokyo. Apollo Bagels uses sourdough starter and ferments its dough for 24 hours before shaping each bagel by hand. Every morning, the bagels are boiled using a traditional method and then baked in the oven. The brand is also known for serving bagels sliced in half and presented open-faced, with visually striking toppings that refresh the conventional image of a bagel. Its light texture, creative toppings, and visual appeal have made it a symbol of New York’s latest food culture. The pop-up will offer New York favorites such as Tomato & Cream Cheese and Smoked Salmon & Cream Cheese, along with Japan-adapted Whitefish Salad and a Japan-exclusive An Butter flavor. Customers can choose from three types of bagels: plain, sesame, and everything. Founder and baker Joey Scalabrino will also visit Japan and greet customers in-store during the event. The pop-up will also feature original merchandise that reflects the Apollo Bagels brand world, including Japan-exclusive designs for hoodies, T-shirts, and tote bags.
