The Organization for Promoting the Motion Picture Industry (VIPO) (Director: Takamasa Matsutani, Chuo-ku, Tokyo) will hold the "Practical Seminar on Anime Scenario Creation in the Age of AI" on Friday, August 21 and Friday, August 28. The rapid evolution of generative AI is bringing about significant changes in the fields of anime and video production. Many may be harboring anxieties and questions such as, "Will screenwriters lose their jobs to AI?" On the other hand, discussions surrounding creation using generative AI, including copyright issues and the protection of creators' rights, are ongoing worldwide, with many challenges remaining. This seminar will feature Yuji Kobayashi, a screenwriter and novelist known for his work on hit series such as the "Ultraman" series and "Fushigi Dagashiya Zenitendo," as the instructor for a two-day practical workshop. Participants will gain hands-on experience from planning and plot construction to scriptwriting, utilizing generative AI tools such as ChatGPT, Gemini, and Claude. Furthermore, by thoroughly comparing and analyzing "scenarios written by humans" and "scenarios written by AI," the seminar will highlight "appropriate methods for coexisting with AI" and "areas that only humans can write." This practical seminar is designed to help participants navigate the future by learning about the drawbacks of over-reliance on AI, while also touching upon the current state of ongoing legal and ethical discussions, and reaffirming their own authorship and pride as screenwriters. We encourage you to apply for this opportunity. ◆ Seminar Program Day 1: Friday, August 21, 1:00 PM - 5:00 PM Theme: Practical Planning and Plot Construction with Generative AI Support - Opening (Instructor's greeting, etc.) - Lecture: "The Role of Screenwriters in the Age of AI" - Workshop 1: Creating a "Project Proposal" with AI (Individual work) - Workshop 2: Creating a "First Episode Plot" (Group work) - Summary of Day 1 and Assignment Explanation Thoro
