Miki Sato, President of the Japan Association for UNESCO Tetsuo Tamura, Chairman of the UNESCO Asia Culture Centre The Japan Association for UNESCO (Shibuya-ku, Tokyo, President: Miki Sato) and the UNESCO Asia Culture Centre (Chiyoda-ku, Tokyo, Chairman: Tetsuo Tamura) have concluded a merger agreement, with the Japan Association for UNESCO as the surviving entity, effective April 1, 2027. 1. Purpose and Background of the Merger The Japan Association for UNESCO has contributed to the realization of a sustainable society through peacebuilding activities, including support for education and culture both domestically and internationally, and youth development programs, in collaboration with regional UNESCO associations and clubs nationwide. The UNESCO Asia Culture Centre has promoted educational and cultural cooperation through human resource development and exchange programs in Asia-Pacific countries and Japan, in collaboration with international organizations such as UNESCO and domestic and international educational and cultural organizations. We have decided to merge in order to maximize our public interest objectives and establish a sustainable operational structure by integrating the know-how and management resources cultivated by both organizations, thereby further enhancing private UNESCO activities. 2. Summary of the Merger (1) Method of Merger This will be an absorption-type merger, with the Japan Association for UNESCO as the surviving entity and the UNESCO Asia Culture Centre as the dissolving entity. The UNESCO Asia Culture Centre will be dissolved on the effective date of this merger.
