Iizuna Town, Nagano Prefecture (along with five other municipalities: Kamishihoro Town, Hokkaido; Joetsu City, Niigata Prefecture; Koshu City, Yamanashi Prefecture; Takahama Town, Fukui Prefecture; and Kyotango City, Kyoto Prefecture) and Rakuten Group, Inc. (hereinafter "Rakuten") have newly commenced a partnership to promote the social implementation of the "Furusato Resident Registration System" (Note 1), which the Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications aims to establish (Note 2). This partnership is part of the initiatives of the "Furusato Resident Support Consortium" (Note 3) established by Rakuten, and the number of participating municipalities is being expanded sequentially. Rakuten and the six municipalities aim to expand the base of people with connections to the regions and secure human resources for regional industries, such as local accommodation providers, through Rakuten's travel reservation service "Rakuten Travel" and its e-commerce platform "Rakuten Ichiba," addressing challenges such as labor shortages in key regional industries and the expansion of related populations. Specifically, the special page "Gather! Future Furusato Residents 2026" on "Rakuten Ichiba" concerning the "Furusato Resident Registration System" has been renewed to disseminate information about the appeal of municipalities and spot work opportunities in primary industries. Users who become interested in a municipality through this special page and contribute to the region through on-site activities and labor as a "Furusato Resident" will receive a Rakuten Travel coupon of 3,000 yen or more off, usable for accommodation expenses at eligible facilities.
