TOMOMI RESEARCH Co., Ltd. announced that its proprietary high-speed, continuous 3D × AI visual inspection system, TR-300, has won both the Future Creation Award at the 2025 Kanagawa Industrial Technology Development Awards and the Encouragement Award at the 38th SME Excellent New Technology and New Product Awards. TR-300 is an AI visual inspection system based on the company’s proprietary 3D imaging technology, FORESIGHT STEREO®. By combining line-scan cameras with its own lighting control technology, the system enables 3D imaging directly on moving production lines. It completes the process from image capture to 3D image processing in just 34 milliseconds, achieving one of the fastest processing speeds in the industry. The system’s ability to perform 3D AI inspection of moving products, previously considered technically difficult, was highly evaluated by both public institutions and industry organizations for its originality and social impact. Key features of TR-300 include high-speed 3D imaging, completing capture-to-3D processing in 34 milliseconds and linking with the AI anomaly detection software E3 ENGINE® for real-time inspection without stopping production lines. Its 3D imaging capability detects fine scratches, dents, and other defects on metallic or glossy surfaces that are difficult to identify using conventional 2D image processing. The system also supports 4K, 8K, and 16K GigE line-scan cameras, making it suitable for wide and long products such as steel sheets, films, and long metal components. Potential applications include continuous inspection of automotive parts, line inspection of steel sheets, metal sheets, and films, surface scratch inspection for electronic and precision components, and quality control for glossy or complex-shaped products such as cosmetic containers and pharmaceutical packaging. According to the company, TR-300 can detect defects as small as 300 micrometers and supports inspection speeds of up to 200 meters per minute.
