Sustained operations by small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), which constitute 99% of all businesses in Tokyo, are essential for further economic development in the capital. Meanwhile, manufacturing enterprises—key players in the supply chain—are decreasing due to business closures caused by lack of successors or relocation outside Tokyo, making large-scale transformations such as management integration increasingly necessary for SMEs. To address this, the Tokyo Metropolitan Government will provide subsidies for construction of factory buildings and equipment installation within Tokyo undertaken by SMEs in conjunction with management integration or similar initiatives, thereby enhancing the value-added capacity of the supply chain.
