STATION Ai Inc. (Headquarters: Nagoya City, Aichi Prefecture, President and CEO: Hirotaka Sahashi, hereinafter "STATION Ai") will establish a data collection center for physical AI, "STATION Ai Data Foundry" (hereinafter "the Center"), within its headquarters to accelerate the societal implementation of physical AI in the manufacturing industry, aiming for operation to begin in December 2026. This initiative has been selected for the "Post-5G Information Communication System Foundation Strengthening Research and Development Project / Research and Development on Data Ecosystem Construction, etc. (GENIAC)" (※), a subsidized project publicly solicited by the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry and NEDO (New Energy and Industrial Technology Development Organization). STATION Ai will accelerate the societal implementation of physical AI in the Tokai region by building a data ecosystem that enables the integration and utilization of data held by manufacturing companies, AI startups, robot-related companies, and system integrators, and by serving as a hub to support the implementation of physical AI. ※Reference Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry Public Announcement (https://www.meti.go.jp/press/2026/07/20260702001/20260702001.html) NEDO Public Announcement (https://www.nedo.go.jp/koubo/CD3_100430.html) Background Amidst challenges such as labor shortages and the succession of skilled craftsmanship in Japan's manufacturing industry, expectations are growing for physical AI as a means to achieve automation and advancement in production sites. However, real-world data, essential for the development of physical AI, is managed dispersedly by each company and site, leading to insufficient accumulation and sharing of data for AI model training and development, which poses a significant challenge to societal implementation. In particular, tasks such as assembly, picking, inspection, and parts conveyance in manufacturing sites exhibit significant variations by site and div
