Spice Factory Inc. announced that Akira Motomura, Executive Officer and CDO (Chief Design Officer), will speak at the second session of a two-part talk event celebrating the publication of the book Organizational Development Starting from Possibility, to be held on Monday, June 15, 2026. The event commemorates the publication of Organizational Development Starting from Possibility, released by Hitsuji Shobo in February 2026. The book reframes practical knowledge in organizational development through the lens of “possibility” and presents management research by author Mika Isobe centered on design attitude and positive approaches. As part of the research, the book includes interview cases on the process and impact of building a design organization led by Motomura. At the event, Motomura will speak directly as a practitioner about the initiatives at the time and concrete insights into organizational transformation. In recent years, the role of design within organizations has expanded beyond product and UI design into organizational and strategic domains. However, how designers engage with organizations and generate change in real-world settings has not been sufficiently shared. The event will invite practitioners who have led design organizations at CyberAgent and Yumemi and who now serve as Chief Design Officer at Spice Factory, exploring in concrete terms what designers think about, observe, do, and create.
