SpaceData Inc. (Headquarters: Minato-ku, Tokyo; President and CEO: Katsuaki Sato; hereinafter “SpaceData”) announced that it has joined the Green Decarbonization Overseas Expansion Consortium operated by Japan’s Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries. As a company with digital twin technology that utilizes satellite data and AI, SpaceData will support the formation and overseas expansion of decarbonization projects in the agriculture, forestry and fisheries sectors. The Green Decarbonization Overseas Expansion Consortium is a public-private partnership framework operated by the Green Food System Strategy Group of the Minister’s Secretariat at the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries. Its purpose is to support the overseas expansion of greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions reduction technologies in the agriculture, forestry and fisheries sectors across countries worldwide, including the Asian monsoon region, and to promote the formation and execution of decarbonization projects that may connect to the Joint Crediting Mechanism (JCM) through matching Japanese companies with domestic and international partners. The consortium includes leading companies and institutions across fields such as consulting firms, think tanks, financial institutions including megabanks, trading companies and technology companies, bringing together public and private sector expertise. The impacts of climate change on agriculture, forestry and fisheries are expanding globally in the form of yield fluctuations, degradation of production foundations and risks to food security. In overseas agriculture, forestry and fisheries sectors, particularly in the Asian monsoon region, there is strong demand for technologies and systems that can achieve both greenhouse gas emissions reductions and productivity improvements. SpaceData has been developing foundations that visualize global environmental change and support on-site decision-making, centered on digital twin technology using satellite
