SOLIZE Ureka Technology Co., Ltd. (Headquarters: Chiyoda-ku, Tokyo; President and CEO: Hiroaki Tsutsumi) and Nippon Zeon Co., Ltd. (Headquarters: Chiyoda-ku, Tokyo; President and CEO: Tetsuya Toyoshima) have implemented initiatives aimed at improving and stabilizing the design quality of P&ID (Piping and Instrumentation Diagram) design and review operations, which are core to Nippon Zeon's plant design. Through these initiatives, a system has been established to utilize design know-how and judgment criteria, which were previously dependent on individuals, as reusable knowledge assets for the organization. At the core of this system, they utilized "SpectA DKM," a knowledge management AI solution provided by SOLIZE Ureka Technology. Background of the Initiative Nippon Zeon identified ensuring quality in P&ID design and review operations, the core of plant design, as a critical challenge in achieving high-quality and stable manufacturing to support its growth strategy. P&ID design and review necessitate consideration based on past design experience, review comments, and grounds for judgment. However, this knowledge was dispersed among the experience of veteran engineers and individual documents, leading to differences in judgment criteria among designers and variations in comments from reviewers, which increased confirmation workload and caused rework. Nippon Zeon believed that it was necessary to establish a system that not only provides an environment for referencing past know-how but also clarifies the criteria and grounds for consideration and judgment, enabling reviews based on knowledge accumulated within the organization. Therefore, together with SOLIZE Ureka Technology, they began to review the design, consideration, and judgment processes themselves.
