Seiko Watch Corporation will release two limited-edition models from the Seiko Prospex collection on Wednesday, June 10, in celebration of Seiko’s 145th anniversary. The model equipped with Caliber 6R55 is priced at 192,500 yen including tax and limited to 4,000 pieces worldwide. The model equipped with Caliber 4R35 is priced at 83,600 yen including tax and limited to 9,999 pieces worldwide. Seiko founder Kintaro Hattori established Hattori Tokeiten, now Seiko Group Corporation, in 1881. Guided by his belief in always staying one step ahead of the times, Seiko completed Japan’s first domestically produced wristwatch in 1913 and went on to make major contributions to the development of Japan’s watch industry. In the 1960s, Seiko introduced a series of world-first and Japan-first products, including Japan’s first mechanical chronograph in 1964, Japan’s first diver’s watch in 1965, and the world’s first quartz wristwatch in 1969. The limited-edition models commemorating Seiko’s 145th anniversary, including these new releases, use blue as an accent color inspired by “Seiko Blue,” a color identity established in the 1960s and refined over time.
