THE HOTEL SEIRYU KYOTO KIYOMIZU (Location: 2-204-2 Kiyomizu, Higashiyama-ku, Kyoto City, General Manager: Takakatsu Muroi) will hold a special event on August 16, 2026 (Sun) where guests can view the Kyoto Gozan Okuribi. The hotel's rooftop, which is normally not open to the public, will be specially opened free of charge exclusively for overnight guests. A picturesque view of the Gozan Okuribi and Yasaka Pagoda as seen from the hotel rooftop. The Kyoto Gozan Okuribi is a traditional event symbolizing the summer in the ancient capital, where six bonfires are lit on five mountains surrounding Kyoto to send off the spirits of ancestors to the Pure Land. Our hotel is built on the eastern mountain slopes, offering a superb location with a panoramic view of the Kyoto basin. From the rooftop, you can see five of the six bonfires: "Myo" and "Ho" on Mt. Daimonji, the "Funagata" (boat shape) on Mt. Senju, the "Hidari Daimonji" (left character 'dai') on Mt. Daimonji, and the "Torii-gata" (torii gate shape) in Saga. The hotel's rooftop, which is normally inaccessible even to overnight guests, will be open only on the night of August 16th, allowing guests staying at the hotel that night to spend a special time. Being able to gaze at the flames floating in the night sky along with the dignified Yasaka Pagoda (Hokan-ji Temple) is an experience unique to Seiryu. Please enjoy Kyoto's representative night scenery as summer draws to a close. Under the concept of "Carving memories, connecting to the future," THE HOTEL SEIRYU KYOTO KIYOMIZU was completed by preserving and utilizing the former Kiyomizu Elementary School, built in 1933 (Showa 8). By becoming a hotel, the 90-plus years of memories held by the building are being passed on to the future. THE HOTEL SEIRYU KYOTO KIYOMIZU will continue to provide opportunities to weave history and culture into the future.
