This survey investigated the reality of communication surrounding electricity bills among those who live with others. Survey Summary - 47.5%, approximately half, have "experienced" disputes or unease over electricity usage. - The top situations prone to disputes are "lights/TV left on" at 77.9%, followed by "air conditioner settings" at 52.6%. - "No particular need to discuss" was the most common response at 42%, indicating many households do not engage in discussions. - As a solution, "taking the initiative to save electricity myself" was the most frequent at 29.5%, while switching electricity providers accounted for only 10.5%. Key Data from the Electricity Bill Trouble Survey Key Data 1: 1 in 2 People Experience Electricity Troubles with Cohabitants When asked if they had experienced disputes or unease over electricity usage, 47.5% (15.5% "often" + 32% "sometimes") had experienced some form of trouble. While 52.5% answered "never," this means approximately 1 in 2 households living with others experience friction over electricity usage. Key Data 2: "Lights Left On" Tops Disputes at About 80% When asked about specific situations (multiple answers allowed) among 95 people who had experienced disputes, "lights/TV left on" was overwhelmingly the top answer at 77.9%. This was followed by "air conditioner settings" at 52.6% and "leaving the room lights on when going out/falling asleep" at 49.5%. The causes of disputes were concentrated in specific daily actions.
