The online community Bijutsu Henshubu, operated by OSIRO Inc., will hold a special visit event on Saturday, May 30, 2026, welcoming contemporary artist Yasumasa Morimura and touring the private museum Morimura@Museum under Morimura’s own guidance. Yasumasa Morimura received the Order of the Rising Sun, Gold Rays with Rosette in the spring 2026 decorations in recognition of his long-standing contributions to art and culture. Since Portrait / Van Gogh in 1985, he has consistently explored the question of what the self is through self-portrait works in which he “disguises himself as someone else.” The event will be navigated by art journalist Yoshio Suzuki, former deputy editor-in-chief of BRUTUS, who has interviewed Morimura over many years and built a deep relationship of trust with him. Participants will tour the exhibition while hearing directly from Morimura about the background of his works, behind-the-scenes stories from production, and his thoughts on founding the private museum Morimura@Museum in 2018. The Nakanoshima Museum of Art, Osaka is currently hosting the exhibition “Our Wunderkammer, Vanish. — Yasumasa Morimura, Kenji Yanobe, Miwa Yanagi —,” in which Morimura also participates. Visiting both the exhibition and this event offers an opportunity to enjoy Morimura’s work in greater depth. Event overview: Touring Morimura@Museum with Yasumasa Morimura.
