As supply chains have become increasingly complex in recent years, accurate shipment forecasting has become more important for maintaining optimal inventory while preventing lost sales opportunities. To address these challenges, Nippon Express provides DCX, a logistics web application that enables real-time checks of inbound and outbound shipment histories and inventory details based on operational data accumulated in warehouses. In April 2025, the company launched an AI-powered shipment forecasting service within Business Insight, which visualizes and analyzes logistics data in DCX to support customer decision-making. With this latest enhancement, Nippon Express has renewed the AI shipment forecasting function and significantly improved calculation speed and processing capacity, enabling faster inventory strategy planning in rapidly changing market environments. Key benefits include a major reduction in forecasting calculation time. The calculation process, which previously took around one to two hours per item, has been reviewed and shortened to approximately five minutes. Forecasts can be generated daily, weekly, or monthly for up to six months ahead, allowing users to obtain forecast results more easily from various perspectives. The enhanced function also supports batch forecasting for multiple items. Forecasting processes that were previously performed individually can now be executed simultaneously for multiple items. Customers handling many product types can forecast key product groups in bulk and in a short period of time, helping reduce operational workload.
