Kamoi Kakoshi Co., Ltd., the manufacturer of the stationery and lifestyle masking tape brand “mt masking tape,” will hold its large-scale “mt ex” event at Horikawa Shinbunka Building in Kyoto, operated by Ogaki Bookstore. Set in the Horikawa area near Kyoto’s Nishijin district, where the culture and spirit of traditional craftsmanship continue to live on, the event will present a special exhibition and sales experience that blends mt with Kyoto culture. This marks the first “mt ex” event in Kyoto in seven years. The venue will sell event-exclusive masking tape designs, including original collaboration tapes with Bijuu Co., Ltd., inspired by Kyoto souvenir sweets “Otabe” and “Kyo Baum.” A limited-time collaboration café will also be held at SLow Page, the café and bar on the first floor of the venue. The event is titled “mt ex at Horikawa Shinbunka Building” and will take place on the second floor of Ogaki Bookstore Horikawa Shinbunka Building, located at 287 Saikachicho, Kamigyo-ku, Kyoto. It runs from May 15 to May 31, 2026, from 11:00 to 18:00. Admission is free and no reservation is required. The event is organized by Kamoi Kakoshi Co., Ltd. and supervised by Koji Iyama of i/d iyamadesign inc. Highlights include venue-exclusive masking tapes created in collaboration with Kyoto confectionery staples “Otabe” and “Kyo Baum,” priced at 209 yen including tax each; limited collaboration café items at SLow Page inspired by the event’s main visual, with an original novelty tape offered for each eligible menu item ordered; and Kyoto-themed venue-exclusive masking tapes featuring motifs such as kimono, tea, kanzashi hair ornaments, and Kyoto vegetables.
