The Japan Package Design Association (JPDA) held an award ceremony and commemorative lecture on June 15, 2026 (Mon.) at Tokyo Garden Palace (Bunkyo-ku, Tokyo) to present the "2026 Package Design Achievement Award" to Sony Group Corporation's Creative Center, and to hold a commemorative lecture. At the award ceremony, the "2026 JPDA Contribution Award" was also presented to artience Co., Ltd. ■2026 Package Design Achievement Award Sony Group Corporation's Creative Center handles a wide range of designs for the Sony Group, having recognized the importance of design early on. From sophisticated products to package design, the rich and surprising Sony experience continues to expand, and the excitement begins with the unboxing, which considers usability. For example, the cocoon-shaped package that envelops aibo becomes the stage for a story that cradles life. The beauty of the packaging, created through original blend materials, is also designed in conjunction with product functionality. A consistent design philosophy permeates this complete worldview, encompassing both the inside and outside, and the contents and packaging. We present the 2026 Package Design Achievement Award in honor of their achievements in continuously proposing unparalleled product designs. The certificate and commemorative trophy were presented by JPDA Chairman Yoji Shindo (center). Mr. Daisuke Ishii (left) and Mr. Kenichi Hirose (right). The commemorative trophy was originally designed by the late Takashi Kaname, who was active for many years as a package designer and also served as a JPDA executive, for the purpose of honoring achievements during his lifetime. Mr. Kaname also actively created and exhibited works as an artist, using various materials, including glass. In the commemorative lecture following the award ceremony, Mr. Daisuke Ishii, Center Director, and Mr. Kenichi Hirose, Senior Designer, from Sony Group Corporation's Creative Center, spoke on the theme of "Creating the 'Prototype' ~
