i@OEC Co., Ltd., provider of the no-code business app creation tool @pocket, conducted a survey on SaaS operations among corporate information systems personnel. The survey found that 67.9% of respondents do not fully understand the purposes behind the SaaS tools introduced at their companies, while 73.7% said the background and usage policies for SaaS adoption are not sufficiently handed over when staff transfers or resignations occur. The survey also found that 63.4% of IT personnel said less than 60% of the functions included in their SaaS tools are used company-wide. In addition, 43.6% said the functions or specifications of their SaaS tools are not appropriate for their business requirements: 20.6% said the tools are overspecified, while 23.0% said they lack sufficient functionality. Among respondents who said their SaaS tools are overspecified, the main issues were increased unnecessary costs, such as license fees, cited by 52.9%; lower adoption rates in the workplace, cited by 41.2%; and increased maintenance and operational burden, cited by 36.8%. Meanwhile, 65.8% of respondents said they feel a need for an environment where frontline teams can build and modify systems according to business requirements. The online survey was conducted from April 20 to April 21, 2026, targeting 330 corporate information systems personnel in their 20s to 50s. i@OEC said its @pocket service, available from zero initial cost and 300 yen per month, enables users to create business applications through drag-and-drop operations and helps address issues caused by overspecified SaaS tools, including unnecessary costs and poor workplace adoption.
