JR East Retail Development Co., Ltd. (Headquarters: Tachikawa City, Tokyo; President: Yoichi Ishiguro) will hold "Exciting Job Experience 2026" for elementary school students from August 5 (Wed) to August 17 (Mon), 2026, at Granduo Tachikawa, a commercial facility operated by the company. This annual summer event, now in its fourth year since its first held in 2023, offers a special learning opportunity during the summer vacation period where children can experience actual tasks such as customer service and sales at popular shops within the facility. This event is part of the "Living with GRANDUO" project, which aims to provide a place for children to "learn" while staying close to the lives of local customers. After the experience, participants will receive a certification badge and "salary" (500 yen worth of Granduo gift certificates), allowing them to experience the workings of society and the rewards of work in an enjoyable way. This year, in addition to cafes, apparel, and bakery shops, the event will include a variety of other experiences such as a cosmetics shop experience and an appraiser experience. Furthermore, a backstage tour, offering a glimpse into the behind-the-scenes operations of the facility that are usually not visible to the public, will be offered free of charge to those who were not selected in the lottery, creating a wide range of experiential opportunities.
