Joint research by MiZ Co., Ltd. and Osaka Metropolitan University, published in Biomedicines, demonstrates that hydrogen-rich saline infusion significantly suppresses the collapse of the vascular endothelial glycocalyx layer during lethal hemorrhagic shock. Hydrogen molecules selectively neutralize highly oxidative hydroxyl radicals, maintaining cardiac contractility and improving survival rates. The study also warns against high-concentration hydrogen inhalers (67-100 vol%), citing several internal explosion accidents reported by the Consumer Affairs Agency, and advocates for a safety threshold below 10 vol% for clinical and home use.
