Navitime Japan Co., Ltd. (President and CEO: Keisuke Onishi, Headquarters: Minato-ku, Tokyo) will launch a new feature, "Route with More Cool Times," on its comprehensive navigation app "NAVITIME" starting July 1, 2026 (Wed). This feature prioritizes routes that minimize time spent outdoors and direct sunlight, aiming to make travel more comfortable on hot days. Even if the route takes longer or is more circuitous than the standard recommended route, it will display a route that minimizes exposure to heat (outdoor travel/stay time, direct sunlight) during transit, offering "more cool times" overall. Navitime Japan has tuned its route search engine to display routes with "more cool times" by reducing outdoor walking segments and wait times at station platforms and bus stops, enabling transfers indoors to avoid sunlight, and increasing time spent on trains and buses. When outdoor routes are displayed, the existing "Shade Priority Route" function is also proposed. In addition, the route details screen will newly display information such as the direction of travel that minimizes direct sunlight, the presence of waiting rooms on train platforms, the location of cars with weaker air conditioning, the heat index, and UV levels, in addition to existing cool spot information. With the recent designation of "Koshobi" (extreme heat day) for days with maximum temperatures of 40°C or higher in April, heat countermeasures during summer travel have become a serious social issue. Navitime Japan has supported comfortable summer travel by providing features such as "Shade Map" and "Shade Route," which visually display and allow users to find shaded areas. This new feature aims to comprehensively cover heat-inducing situations not only during walking but also during train transfers and waiting at bus stops, proposing routes that allow for cooler travel. This feature is available to paid members of 'NAVITIME'. ■Related Press Releases ・(July 1, 2026) 'ALKOO by NAVITIME' Launches Time-Ba
