Following the conviction of two men under the National Security Act for assisting Hong Kong police in secret operations within the UK, Deputy Home Secretary Dan Jarvis stated in Parliament that foreign governments conducting shadow policing is completely unacceptable. The UK Foreign Office has demanded the immediate termination of one of the convicted men from the Hong Kong Economic and Trade Office in London. Jarvis classified the incident as transnational repression by China.
