Taiwan's Ministry of Transportation and Communications (MOTC) has amended regulations to allow multi-purpose taxis (app-based ride-hailing vehicles) to pick up passengers at airports on a trial basis, expected to launch at Kaohsiung Airport in June. The amendment, effective May 17, aims to meet diverse transportation needs and improve service quality following multiple incidents involving illegal taxi solicitation. Airports must submit trial plans for approval, and operators violating regulations could face business suspensions of up to 30 days or complete termination of their trial eligibility.
