Central News Agency (Central News Agency, Washington, July 2nd, Foreign News) Less than a week before the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) summit in Ankara, Turkey, U.S. President Trump stated today that the United States' continued "unilateral" relationship with NATO is "quite absurd." According to Agence France-Presse, Trump posted on his social media platform "Truth Social," criticizing, "They are not supporting us at all!" and calling the U.S.-NATO relationship "unequal." Trump has recently criticized European allies multiple times for their responses to the Iran conflict, as some countries have restricted U.S. military access to bases within their territories. He also emphasized his desire for Europe to take primary responsibility for its own defense, and that the U.S. has already begun to scale back some commitments. Trump also attached charts in his post showing the defense spending of NATO countries, pointing out that U.S. investment far exceeds that of most member states. Under Trump's pressure, NATO leaders agreed at a meeting last year to increase defense spending to 5% of their Gross Domestic Product (GDP) by 2035. The NATO summit, scheduled to be held in Ankara, Turkey, from July 7th to 8th, is expected to be attended by leaders from 32 member countries. member countries. member countries. member countries. states. states. states. countries. countries. states. states. countries. states. states. countries. states. states. states. states. countries. states. states. states. states. states. states. states. states. states. states. states. states. states. states. states. states. states. states. states. countries. states. states. states. countries. states. states. countries. states. states. states. states. states. states. states. countries. states. countries. states. states. states. states. states. states. states. states. states. states. states. states. states. countries. states. states. countries. countries. states. states. states. states. states. st
