Most traditional industry stocks closed higher, with the textile, paper, and shipping sector indices rising over 3%. The plastics, cable, rubber, and automotive sector indices rose over 2%, serving as the main drivers for the market's gains. TSMC closed at NT$2,445, down NT$20, impacting the index by approximately 158 points. Other major electronic stocks saw mixed performance, with MediaTek and ASE Technology Holding closing lower, while Delta Electronics and Foxconn closed higher after fluctuations.
