Central News Agency (CNA) - Major U.S. stock indices saw mixed results on July 2nd, with the Dow Jones Industrial Average rising 594.83 points, while the Philadelphia Semiconductor Index, highly correlated with Taiwan's stock market, fell 727.06 points. Taiwan Futures Index night trading was down 938 points. Taiwan stocks followed suit today, falling 863 points in early trading to a low of 45880 points, breaking below the 46,000 mark. Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Company (TSMC) American Depositary Receipts (ADRs) fell $10.07, a decrease of 2.27%. TSMC's stock price also declined today, trading at NT$2415 in early trading, down NT$50. Its market capitalization dropped to NT$62.62 trillion, impacting the broader market by approximately 397 points. Other major stocks such as MediaTek, Delta Electronics, Hon Hai Precision Industry Co., Ltd. (Foxconn), and ASE Technology Holding also weakened, with the electronic sector index falling over 2%.
