Central News Agency (Central News Agency, Washington, July 1) - A study released today by a US think tank indicates that Russia's invasion of Ukraine has resulted in over 2 million military casualties, with Russian forces bearing the brunt of the losses. According to Agence France-Presse, the Washington-based think tank Center for Strategic and International Studies (CSIS) stated, "The combined casualties of Russia and Ukraine have exceeded 2 million." The study estimates that since Russia's full-scale invasion of Ukraine in February 2022, Russian forces have suffered approximately 400,000 to 450,000 deaths out of a total of 1.4 million casualties (including killed, wounded, and missing). CSIS noted that during the same period, Ukrainian forces sustained 525,000 to 625,000 casualties, with the number of deaths estimated between 125,000 and 150,000. The study added, "Russia's death toll in Ukraine is more than four times the total number of American deaths in all wars since World War II"; furthermore, the casualty ratio between Russia and Ukraine may have risen to approximately 8 to 1 in the first half of this year.
