Central News Agency (CNA Taipei, 2nd) During her visit to India, Japanese Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi once again emphasized the importance of building a "free and open Indo-Pacific region." Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson Guo Jiajun stated today that while the concept is spoken of as free and open, the underlying intention is confrontation and opposition. This concept, which is contrary to the common aspirations of regional countries for peace, development, and cooperation, is destined not to gain genuine recognition. Since the beginning of this year, Japanese Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi has frequently mentioned the "new version of the free and open Indo-Pacific concept." Japanese officials at various levels have visited countries such as the Philippines, Vietnam, and Australia, extensively lobbying for this concept. However, China has consistently held a strong stance of opposition and rejection towards the "Indo-Pacific strategy" promoted by countries like the United States and Japan, viewing it as a geopolitical tool by Western countries to isolate and contain China. At a regular press conference today, Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson Guo Jiajun, in response to relevant questions, stated that the Asia-Pacific region needs stability, not turmoil, and cooperation, not division. Upholding the post-war international order and the purposes and principles of the UN Charter are the foundations for the prosperity and stability of the Asia-Pacific, as well as the common responsibility of regional countries. He said that in the face of some minor actions that create division and provoke confrontation, regional countries need to keep their eyes wide open more than ever, unite as one, maintain the correct direction of Asia-Pacific cooperation, enhance mutual trust through dialogue and consultation, safeguard peace through mutually beneficial cooperation, and jointly build a prosperous, stable, open, inclusive, and harmonious Asia-Pacific.
