Central News Agency (CNA Taipei, July 2, 2024) The Financial Supervisory Commission (FSC) announced today that a former employee of CTBC Bank misappropriated approximately NT$2.97 million in ATM clearing funds and financial clearing funds. The FSC has imposed a fine of NT$4 million on the bank, citing deficiencies in its internal control systems. The bank is also required to anonymize the case and disclose it on the Bankers Association website for reference by member institutions. The FSC stated today that a former employee, identified as Mr. Liao, from CTBC Bank's Retail Banking Central Operations Department, misappropriated the bank's ATM clearing funds and financial clearing funds between November 2024 and August 2025. The amount involved was approximately NT$2.97 million, and the violation period lasted about 10 months. This indicates a failure to adequately establish and effectively implement internal control systems.
