Central News Agency (CNA, Taipei, July 1) - As the United States celebrates its 250th anniversary of independence on July 4, the American Institute in Taiwan (AIT) announced today that Taiwan will participate in the "Freedom 250" global lighting event. Five major landmarks in Taipei and Kaohsiung, including Taipei 101, will be illuminated in red, white, and blue. Additionally, the AIT headquarters will be lit up from June 29 to July 5 to commemorate the occasion. AIT issued a press release announcing Taiwan's participation in the "Freedom 250" global lighting event to celebrate the 250th anniversary of the founding of the United States on July 4. This commemorative event, coordinated by U.S. embassies and consulates worldwide, invites major landmarks, monuments, and historical sites globally to display red, white, and blue lights, honoring the founding principles of the U.S. over 250 years and its enduring international partnerships. AIT stated that on the evening of July 4, five major landmarks in Taiwan will be lit in red, white, and blue. These include Taipei 101 from 7 PM to 10 PM, with the entire building illuminated and LED displays on the north facade showing congratulatory messages. From July 1 to 9, from 6 PM to 10 PM, the Baroque Garden facade at the center of the Songshan Cultural and Creative Park in Taipei will feature a 20-minute light and shadow show, including a 3-minute theme video. The CPC Corporation Headquarters building will be lit in red, white, and blue from 7 PM to 10 PM on July 4. In Kaohsiung, the Kaohsiung Music Center will be illuminated in red, white, and blue from 7 PM to 10 PM on July 4. The National Kaohsiung Center for the Arts (Weiwuying) will have its northwest corner lit in red, white, and blue from 7 PM to 10 PM on July 4, displaying the "Freedom 250" logo.
