Central News Agency (CNA) Taipei, July 1 -- Former DPP Secretary-General and former Taiwan Sugar Corporation (TSC) Chairman Wu Nai-jen, who was taken into custody over a TSC land case, has been released after the creditor, TSC, withdrew its custody request. The Ministry of Economic Affairs (MOEA) stated that it had not received prior notification from TSC and respects the company's professional judgment, urging TSC to fully protect its rights and interests. The Taiwan Taichung District Court stated today that Wu Nai-jen had appealed his custody, and during the trial at the Taiwan High Court Taichung Branch, the creditor, TSC, withdrew its request. The court granted his release and issued a release order. The Taichung Detention Center received the release order on June 22 of this year and legally released Wu Nai-jen that afternoon. Subsequent actions will be taken based on the creditor's claims and reporting to the court according to law. The MOEA stated that it had not received prior notification from TSC and respects the company's professional judgment in managing its business affairs. Upon inquiry with TSC, the company indicated that all relevant decisions were made after consulting legal professionals.
