Central News Agency (CNA, reporter Kuo Hsuan-hsin, Hsinchu County, June 30) The Hsinchu County Government announced today that in response to the heavy rainfall disaster in the county on June 26, it will provide measures such as vehicle subsidies and flood relief for homes, processing applications simply, leniently, and swiftly to alleviate the financial burden on affected residents. During a department head meeting held by the Hsinchu County Government today, County Magistrate Yang Wen-ko stated that vehicles are indispensable tools for livelihood for many commuters and families. In the face of sudden natural disasters causing cars to be submerged, a special subsidy will be provided for flood-damaged vehicles to help affected residents repair them as soon as possible. The Transportation Department stated that from July 16 to August 31, applications will be accepted from Hsinchu County residents for flood-damaged vehicle subsidies. A maximum subsidy of NT$20,000 will be provided for each car and large heavy motorcycle (250cc and above), and a maximum of NT$2,000 for regular motorcycles. The Transportation Department pointed out that vehicle owners must be registered residents of Hsinchu County before the disaster on June 26, and the location where the vehicle was submerged must be within the jurisdiction of Hsinchu County. Each vehicle can only be applied for once. If the vehicle has already been scrapped, applications can be made with the scrapping certificate from the motor vehicle authority and the towing invoice. Regarding flood relief for homes, the Social Affairs Department stated that for homes flooded by 50 centimeters or more due to the flood, calculated per household (one door number), a maximum of NT$20,000 in flood relief will be provided per household. If the home is damaged to the extent of being uninhabitable due to the disaster, for households with actual residents limited to 5 people, NT$20,000 in relocation assistance will be provided per person.
