Central News Agency (CNA Reporter Yu Hsiao-han Taipei June 30) Following China Airlines' planned increase in reservation service fees on July 9, EVA Air announced today that starting August 1, EVA Air and UNI Air will charge US$33 (approximately NT$1050) per ticket for international flights originating from regions other than the Philippines and Hong Kong. As flight reservations are provided through Global Distribution Systems (GDS), reservation service fees are collected with the ticket based on the concept of user pays. This includes China Airlines, EVA Air, Starlux Airlines, and Tigerair Taiwan, all of which collect reservation service fees with tickets. China Airlines recently announced that it will adjust its fees again starting July 9, increasing them from US$28 to US$30. EVA Air announced on its official website today that EVA Air and UNI Air will increase their international flight ticket reservation service fees. Starting August 1 of this year, tickets originating from the Philippines will be charged US$28 per ticket; tickets originating from regions other than the Philippines and Hong Kong will be charged US$33 per ticket. Starlux Airlines increased its reservation service fee from US$25 to US$30 starting April 1. Tigerair Taiwan's reservation service fee remains NT$400 per person per segment for peak season flights and NT$300 for off-peak season flights.
