Taipei, Jun. 30 (CNA) The Philippines' visa-free entry for Taiwanese travelers, which allows for a 14-day stay, was set to expire today. Although the Philippine government has not yet officially announced whether the measure will be extended, the Taipei Economic and Cultural Office in the Philippines stated that there are no issues in principle, and the Philippine Bureau of Immigration will still allow Taiwanese tourists to enter visa-free starting tomorrow. Taiwan has been offering visa-free entry for Philippine nationals for 14 days since November 2017, with the current measure expiring on July 31 of this year. The Philippines, in turn, has implemented a 14-day visa-free entry policy for Taiwanese travelers since July 1, 2025, which is set to expire on June 30, 2026. In response to public concern about whether the Philippines will extend its visa-free arrangement for Taiwan, the Manila Economic and Cultural Office (MECO) told CNA that it has not yet received any official announcement. Once formal notification is received, the latest information will be released immediately. The Taipei Economic and Cultural Office in the Philippines announced this evening that the Philippine government has a positive stance on continuing the visa-free measure for Taiwan, and an official announcement may be released later. The Philippine Bureau of Immigration has notified airport immigration units and contacted Taiwan's Immigration Agency, ensuring that Taiwanese citizens can still enter the Philippines visa-free tomorrow. From January to May of this year, over 90,000 Taiwanese tourists visited the Philippines, a 12% increase compared to the same period last year. This places Taiwan as the 7th largest source of international tourists for the Philippines, with travel industry professionals believing the visa-free policy may be a contributing factor.
