Huang was arrested and detained due to strong suspicion of committing the crime, but he has consistently denied his involvement. The case is being tried at the Nantou District Court as a domestic violence homicide. In October last year, the 60-something Huang rode his motorcycle to the residence of his aunt, Ms. Wang, in Puli Township, Nantou County, to demand money. When Ms. Wang refused to lend him money, Huang allegedly used a blunt object to strike Ms. Wang on the head several times from behind while she was bending over to sort bamboo shoots on a single-seater sofa. The blows resulted in head trauma, skull and brain fractures, bleeding, and death. Neighbors discovered Ms. Wang's body that evening and reported it to the police. Huang was arrested and detained. As Huang is the deceased's nephew, the Nantou District Prosecutors Office indicted Huang on charges of domestic violence homicide. The case was transferred to the Nantou District Court.
