The Taichung City Government Fire Bureau responded to the scene and rushed him to the hospital, but he could not be revived. The Fire Bureau stated that they received a report from the school around noon that a security guard had allegedly fallen and lost vital signs. A school nurse performed cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) at the scene before he was immediately transported to Fengyuan Hospital, Ministry of Health and Welfare, for emergency treatment. The school stated that the guard room does not have floor-to-ceiling windows. When the security guard collapsed on the floor of the guard room during his shift, he was not immediately discovered. At noon, a teacher called the guard room and, receiving no answer, went to check. The teacher found the security guard collapsed on the floor with no vital signs.
