No injuries were reported among the 33 passengers on board, and passengers were guided by station staff to walk back to the station. According to Mainichi Broadcasting System (MBS), the operator of the Kintetsu Kyoto Line, Kinki Nippon Railway Co., Ltd., stated that a local train with four cars, originally bound for Kashiharajingūmae Station, derailed around 5:13 a.m. today shortly after departing from Kyoto Station on the Kintetsu Kyoto Line. Kinki Nippon Railway Co., Ltd. is currently investigating the cause of the derailment, and it may take some time to restore full service. JR, Keihan Electric Railway, and Kyoto Municipal Subway have arranged alternative transportation to evacuate passengers. According to Kyodo News, based on the report submitted by Kinki Nippon Railway Co., Ltd. to the Japanese Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism, after the train departed and passed through a switch, the driver noticed an abnormality and stopped the train.
