On Wednesday, July 1, 2026, 20 Takatsuki City staff members conducted a patrol to inspect fences and educational signs installed along water channels and farm ponds to prevent drowning accidents involving children. In Takatsuki City, in conjunction with "National Safety Day" on July 1, city staff and police officers conduct joint inspections of dangerous waterside locations to ensure safety. Eighteen city staff members and two Takatsuki Police Station officers participated in the patrol on this day. From the perspective of "whether there is a risk of children accidentally entering or falling in," they inspected a total of 42 locations, including main water channels, farm ponds, and regulating ponds within the city. They took measures to prevent accidents, such as checking for damage to fences and protective barriers, and replacing educational signs that were damaged or had faded lettering. A city staff member who participated in the patrol urged caution, stating, "We want people to be reminded that dangers lurk near water, to not approach rivers that have swollen due to heavy rain, and for children not to go to riverbanks or farm ponds alone."
