In Kawanishi City, Hyogo Prefecture, on July 1, a new initiative was launched to provide more detailed and flexible support for seniors and others in need: the Senior Citizen Support Center "Marutto." To address the increasingly complex and multifaceted issues related to nursing care, welfare, and daily life, "Marutto," established within the city's Council of Social Welfare, will work in close cooperation with each community comprehensive support center to build a network. The aim is to strengthen the system for tackling these challenges across the entire community. The Senior Citizen Support Center "Marutto" was opened on July 1 on the first floor of the Kiseru Kawanishi Plaza Welfare Building (within the City Council of Social Welfare). This initiative aims for "Marutto" to closely collaborate with community comprehensive support centers and private service providers to comprehensively address various difficulties within the community and quickly connect individuals to necessary support. This includes not only seniors themselves but also complex issues involving the disabilities of cohabiting family members, financial challenges, and relationships within the community, as well as cases requiring specialized coordination. Previously, when individuals had multiple overlapping concerns and were unsure where to seek help, each department or center handled cases individually, sometimes leading to a situation where people were passed from one office to another. Going forward, community comprehensive support centers will serve as the primary contact points for daily nursing care and life concerns of seniors.
