Izumiotsu City is hosting the 'Children Correspondents' program in Higashiomi City for the second consecutive year. Aimed at promoting health and food security, this initiative allows children from Izumiotsu—a city with very limited farmland—to experience agriculture firsthand. Due to high demand, capacity has doubled to 40 participants this year. Children will plant rice in fields producing the 'Fish Cradle Paddy Rice' used in their school lunches and interview local farmers, fostering a deeper understanding of food production.
