Itabashi Ward will implement the "3-Cut Kitchen Waste Challenge" campaign, a program focused on the three food processes (procurement, consumption, and disposal) to reduce kitchen waste. Kitchen waste with high water content becomes heavier, requiring more energy for collection and transportation. It is also difficult to burn, leading to increased energy consumption during incineration and a rise in carbon dioxide emissions. Furthermore, kitchen waste is prone to rotting, negatively impacting the living environment through odors in household trash cans and community collection points. We will work to reduce kitchen waste through three simple initiatives: "Use it all up," "Eat it all up," and "Drain it all up." The campaign is open to residents, workers, and students in Itabashi Ward. Participants will be entered into a lottery to win the digital local currency "Itabashi Pay."
