Satsuma Shuzo Co., Ltd. announced that its restaurant-exclusive, long-aged barley shochu 'Kami no Kawa Black' won the 'Best of the Best' award and the Superior Gold in the barley category of the shochu division at the Tokyo Whisky & Spirits Competition (TWSC) 2026. In addition, 'Kami no Kawa' and 'Satsuma Shiranami Genshu' also received Gold awards. The company, unique for having its own cooperage and coopers, ages 'Kami no Kawa Black' in oak barrels for five years, resulting in a rich aroma and mellow taste. Satsuma Shuzo aims to continue promoting shochu culture globally.
