We will hold a seminar for educators to consider STEAM, inquiry-based, and collaborative learning in schools. NPO FIRST Japan, in cooperation with Robotto Kagaku Kyoiku Crefus Inc., will hold a seminar titled "STEAM, Inquiry-Based, and Collaborative Learning Starting in Schools" for school administrators, teachers, education committee officials, local government officials, and university/research institution representatives on July 17, 2026 (Fri) at the National Olympics Memorial Youth Center. In school education in the AI era, learning where children think for themselves, experiment, and tackle challenges collaboratively is becoming increasingly important, not just memorizing knowledge. This seminar will concretely consider how STEAM education, inquiry-based learning, and collaborative learning can be implemented in schools through a demo lesson utilizing LEGO® Education "Computer Science & AI" and an introduction to "FIRST LEGO League (FLL)". FLL is an international STEAM education program where children engage in inquiry activities, presentations, and robot games as a team. This is not just a product introduction; it is designed to help participants consider implementation and utilization in schools while envisioning connections to regular classes, integrated studies, club activities, and participation in FLL. Using LEGO® materials and tablets, we will concretely consider how they can be utilized in classes and inquiry activities. How to implement learning required in the AI era in schools In schools, there are practical challenges such as how to incorporate STEAM education and inquiry-based learning into classes, how to handle learning related to AI and computer science, and how to connect them to regular classes, integrated studies, and club activities. This seminar will introduce, in a demo lesson format, how children deepen their learning by posing questions, experimenting, and discussing with peers through activities using LEGO® materials.
