Kobe Portopia Hotel Co., Ltd. (Chuo-ku, Kobe; General Manager: Tsuyoshi Ito) will exhibit Tanabata decorations, a traditional Japanese summer custom, at two locations within the hotel from Tuesday, June 30, 2026, to Tuesday, July 7, 2026. One theory for the origin of decorating bamboo stalks is that bamboo's straight growth is said to reach the heavens, and by decorating its leaves with wishes, it is believed that thoughts will reach the celestial deities Orihime and Hikoboshi. For the bamboo decorations, we have prepared strips of paper in a pale blue color scheme, inspired by Kobe's sea and sky. Visitors are welcome to write their thoughts and wishes freely. After the exhibition period, all the strips of paper collected from visitors will be dedicated and offered in prayer at "Osaki Hachiman Shrine" in Sendai, where the "Tanabata Prayer Festival" is held annually. Additionally, starting Friday, July 10, decorations inspired by Japanese "summer festivals" and over 300 wind chimes will be displayed in the passageway connecting the Main Building and the South Building, as part of a plan to create a cool atmosphere within the hotel. Kobe Portopia Hotel will continue to provide opportunities to experience Japan's beautiful culture and traditional events through seasonal artistic presentations. ■Period: Tuesday, June 30, 2026 - Tuesday, July 7, 2026 ■Locations: In front of the World Clock next to the Main Building 1st Floor Main Lobby, and in front of 'Drugstore Sunport' connecting the Main Building 1F and South Building 1F. ■Hotel Official Website Summer Special Site 'PORTOPIA SUMMER 2026'
