Jozankei Shikanoyu / Hanamomiji, an inn that conveys the essence of hot springs and Japanese culture, will host the "Wish-Granting Tanabata Decoration" event from July 1st to August 24th, 2026. Guests are invited to write their heartfelt wishes on strips of paper and decorate them. Colorful Tanabata decorations will adorn the summer night of Jozankei National Park. About the Wish-Granting Tanabata Decoration Strips of paper with wishes for loved ones or oneself will be hung in a special venue within the inn. The strips come in five colors based on the Chinese philosophy of the Five Elements: white, red, blue, yellow, and purple. You can imbue your preferred color with your wish, or choose a color that corresponds to your wish, such as for growth, academics, or gratitude to ancestors. You are free to write as many strips as you wish. This event is free for anyone to enjoy, whether you are staying at our inn, visiting for a day trip bath, or coming specifically for this event. The precious strips of paper with everyone's wishes will be collected regularly and offered to a shrine after the event concludes. In Hokkaido, Tanabata is generally observed on "August 7th." Additionally, the traditional Tanabata festival based on the lunar calendar falls on "August 19th" (the date of the lunar Tanabata festival changes every year). As a long-established inn in Jozankei, we will continue to strive for sustainable activities that inherit Japanese culture, allowing everyone, regardless of nationality or generation,
