Nichino Ryokuka Co., Ltd. (President: Nobuhiko Nagai, Chuo Ward, Tokyo) has begun joint development and cultivation demonstration of environmentally sustainable turfgrass using high-performance biochar "Soratan (Soratan)" together with TOWING Co., Ltd. (President: Kohei Nishida, Nagoya City, Aichi Prefecture) and Fujimi Kogyo Co., Ltd. (President: Masanobu Yamamoto, Shizuoka City, Shizuoka Prefecture). This initiative responds to the growing demand for decarbonization in the landscaping and greening industry, applying the J-Credit Scheme* methodology "AG004: Application of Biochar to Agricultural Land" to the greening sector with the aim of generating carbon credits. In addition to carbon sequestration in soil through the application of high-performance biochar "Soratan" and biochar, this project will also evaluate soil improvement effects on turf quality and productivity, as well as the overall economic viability of the operation. As the first domestic effort (based on our company's research) to apply the J-Credit Scheme to turfgrass production for greening purposes, the three companies aim to collaboratively build a new model that creates added value in both agriculture and environmental sustainability. For further details regarding this project, please refer to the press release issued by TOWING Co., Ltd. attached hereto.
