Students from the Department of Fine Arts and Crafts (full-time program) at Kyoto University of the Arts (KUA, Sakyo Ward, Kyoto / President: Taku Sato) will participate in the 16th "Kamigamo Shrine Art Project" held within the grounds of the World Cultural Heritage site Kamigamo Shrine for three days from July 18 (Sat) to July 20 (Holiday, Mon), 2026. This project is an annual summer event at Kamigamo Shrine, now in its 16th year, aimed at providing local children with broad experiences in culture and art, fostering their rich sensibilities. Within the "Choya" (庁屋), a designated Important Cultural Property facility on the shrine grounds, works by 10 undergraduate and graduate students from Kyoto University of the Arts will be exhibited. Additionally, there will be an exhibition of lanterns (andon) created by students from the Nihonga (Japanese painting) course during their art class at the local Hiiragi-no Elementary School, as well as workshops such as fan making by students. On the special stage of Kamigamo Shrine, one of the oldest shrines in Kyoto, the "Thousand-Year Capital," students will connect with the local community and society, conveying the charm of the culture and art that thrives in this land. ■ Student Works Exhibited at World Heritage Site Kamigamo Shrine Works by 10 undergraduate and graduate students from our university will be exhibited in the "Choya," an Important Cultural Property facility within the shrine grounds.
