The award ceremony was held on June 5, 2026 (local time) at the Chinggis Khaan National Museum of History, and was presented by Presidential Advisor Khurelsukh Nyambayar. This award recognizes the university's contributions to strengthening friendly relations between Mongolia and Japan, as well as its high evaluation for its contributions to the development of academic exchange, human resource development, and joint research accumulated over 20 years with the Mongolian National University of Medical Sciences. In particular, President Yasuhiko Kawamura has played a significant role in building the foundation for the continuous cooperative relationship between the two universities. The "Order of Friendship" is one of Mongolia's national orders awarded to individuals who have made significant contributions to the development of friendly and cooperative relations between Mongolia and foreign countries, and it is an honorable medal that recognizes such achievements. A celebratory event was held in Mongolia to commemorate the 20th anniversary of exchange with the Mongolian National University of Medical Sciences, a partner institution of the University of Tokushima, with a delegation led by the university president participating. During this visit, by decision of Mongolian President Khurelsukh Ukhnaa, President Yasuhiko Kawamura was awarded the "Order of Friendship." The University of Tokushima and the Mongolian National University of Medical Sciences began with the signing of an inter-faculty agreement in 2005, and have since expanded their exchange to include the Faculty of Dentistry and the Faculty of Pharmacy, developing it into a university-wide agreement. Furthermore, collaborations have evolved year by year, including the implem
