Tokyu Foundation (Chairperson: Kiyoshi Kanazashi) will begin accepting applications for the "Tama River Beautiful Future Creation Grant" starting August 1. Established in 1974, the Tokyu Foundation (formerly Tokyu Environmental Purification Foundation) began providing grants in 1975 for surveys, research, and studies necessary for the purification of the Tama River and its basin, which were facing water pollution issues at the time, as well as for the conservation of the natural environment. Recognizing the importance of increased public awareness, behavioral change, and nurturing the next generation for the conservation and improvement of the Tama River and its basin, the program was changed in 2024 to promote collaboration between the activities of private non-profit organizations (NPOs/NGOs, voluntary associations, etc.) and the research of researchers/research institutions (organizations) to enhance its effectiveness. We hope this grant will contribute to the advancement of activities and research aimed at realizing a sustainable, environmentally symbiotic society, as considered from the perspective of the Tama River, and to the nurturing of the next generation. We also expect that the outcomes and insights gained will be widely shared with the general public, leading to the creation of a beautiful living environment.
